Ambassador to Burundi (with residence in Kampala, Uganda) H.E. Alemtsehay
Meseret presented her credentials on Friday (February 7) to President of the
Republic of Burundi, H.E. Pierre Nkurunziza.
the presentation, the President expressed the government’s commitment to
further enhance the multi-faceted relations of the two countries and also
appreciated Ethiopia for its role in keeping peace and stability in Africa and
the region. Furthermore, the president noted the contribution of Ethiopian
airlines which fly to Burundi in a daily base, in strengthening the people to
people relations of the two countries as well as its role in economic ties.
On her part, H.E. Ambassador
Alemtsehay Meseret vowed to scale up relations between the two countries during her
tenure. It is also recalled that Ethiopian troops had been deployed to Burundi
in 2003 under the auspices of the African Union Mission in Burundi (AMIB).
