Ethiopian Embassy in Kampala celebrates International Women’s Day
Ethiopian Embassy in Kampala (Uganda) celebrated the 109th International Women’s Day with Ethiopian Women Diasporas residing in Uganda on March 8, 2020. The Day was celebrated for the 44th time in national level. During the event, H.E.Alemtsehay Meseret , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Uganda, remarked that International Women’s Day is to commemorate Women’s struggle to bring equality and equity to the globe, as well as their achievements so far and their effort to plan out multi-faceted tasks for future execution. Furthermore, H.E. the Ambassador noted that Ethiopia is working hard in engaging women and utilizing their untapped potential in realizing the ongoing reforms, in bringing peace and stability, in capacity building for decision making and in other socio-economic and political endeavors.
A discussion was also held with the theme of “Prospering Ethiopian Values through strengthening social interaction”. During the discussion, participants while lauding the role of Ethiopian Women in shaping the generation, bringing peace, defending sovereignty and strengthening co-existence through helping the needy throughout history, they pledged to play similar roles and remarked that Ethiopian Women Diasporas should take the responsibility to be an ambassador of peace and be problem solvers for the country.
